The Nature Valley Bicycle Festival is a volunteer run organization at all levels and they need your help to put on this fantastic event that benefits Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.

rick3.JPGWith steady rain and cool temps, 129 refurbished bicycles were sold at Rick Anderson’s 5th Annual Sale, in Apple Valley, Minn. Rick now reports the remaining 28 bikes not sold were generously donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Association’s garage sale and the garage is empty again, at the Anderson household!

The first pedal-powered bicycle and the city of Little Falls, Minnesota may have come into being at about the same time, but don't worry, there won't be a quiz. On June 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., bring your bike, a helmet and bag lunch for a complimentary tour of the streets Charles Lindbergh biked as a kid and the community’s rich historic past.

NV4.JPGCarmen Small and Tom Zirbel to Defend Champion Titles. The top men and women cyclists from across the country will contest the 15th annual Nature Valley Grand Prix to be held June 12-16 in Central Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. The Nature Valley Grand Prix is the most prestigious race on the men’s and women’s USA Cycling National Racing Calendar. It promises to be a battle as defending champion Carmen Small, now riding for Team Specialized Lululemon, takes on a strong field of women, including a couple of her former Optum teammates, Jade Wilcoxson and Brianna Walle. Former Nature Valley Grand Prix Champion Shelley Olds will also be back, as will Lauren Tamayo, who just won a silver medal at the London Olympics.

lbtl2.JPGUndaunted by our cold, wet, superficial spring, the Land Between the Lakes Triathlon went on as scheduled on May 19th, 2013 in Albert Lea, Minn. The ice was barely off the lake when 100 brave and hardy participants donned their suits for the swimming leg of the race.

The Gammel Dag Day Ride, June 15, in the Bluff Country Area; the Minnesota River History Ride, July 9 -14, (bus/bike); the Bluff Country/Root River Ride, August 8-11; and the Mississippi River Ride II, Aug 31 -September 2, (bike/bus) Hastings to LaCrosse.
