neighborhood_house_2.jpgIn administering the Bike Walk Twin Cities  (BWTC) pilot we have been attuned to the challenges of shifting from car trips to bicycling, walking, and transit transportation. This can be especially difficult for individuals and families living on low incomes. Out of that need and opportunity, Transit for Livable Communities (TLC) created the Transportation Options program, which we piloted in May. We were pleased to have received funding from the Otto Bremer Foundation for this work and honored to have piloted the program with Neighborhood House (NH) in Saint Paul. Neighborhood House uses a comprehensive approach to break the cycle of poverty and to help people, families, and organizations develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in diverse communities.

Mamba__1.jpgThe Mankato Area Mountain Bikers (MAMB), the southern Minnesota affiliate of the Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC) were offered two opportunities by Blue Earth County for the development of new singletrack trails in the Mankato area last fall. It is MAMB's vision to build sustainable, environmentally friendly trails that make the most of natural terrain features, so members jumped at the chance to develop two new trails. With the help of members and volunteers, these new trails are ready to ride.

Buzz_Ryan_2a.jpgOn Saturday, July 20th, the Buzz Ryan Sprint/ Duluth triathlon was in full motion. This event took place at the Minnesota Power Picnic Pavilion, next to Island Lake, in Duluth, Minn. The course this year was brand new with a beautiful lake, rolling paths through the pines of northern MN, and finished under the big blue gorilla at the Island Lake Inn. "Although the numbers were down from last year, this event still proved to be successful" said the producers of Ramjet Events.

aquabot_0.pngThe Lunatec Aquabot cap transforms a regular water bottle into a pressurized spray bottle. Like a Geigerrig in bottle form, the spraying action adds extra function and versatility to the average bottle. Instead of just drinking out of it, you can spray your hands, mist yourself in the face, rinse dishes or better yet clean your chain and frame after riding on wet pavement, or in dusty areas.
