On March 5, 2012, the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota (BikeMN) needs bicycle advocates from around the state to join in for a day of activities that will help Minnesota set the pace for the rest of the nation.
Your presence at the 2012 Bike Summit, on Minnesota's Capitol Hill, on March 5, 2012 is necessary to educate our legislative leaders about BikeMN's 2012 Legislative Agenda. A BikeMN list of items which includes: a vulnerable user bill; making the Mississippi River Trail our first (but not last) state bikeway; state funding for Safe Routes to School; and more.
The 2012 Minnesota Bike Summit will begin at Christ Lutheran Church, on Monday, March 5, at 9:30 a.m. During the morning session, BikeMN will facilitate discussions on bike-related legislative issues, bike facilities, and state agencies that impact bicycle programs throughout Minnesota. Attendees will hear from the authors of bicycle-related bills in the rotunda at 2 .p.m. Guest speakers will include popular writer and speaker Jay Walljasper and Christine Fruechte, CEO of award-winning ad agency and Bicycle Friendly Business, Colle+McVoy.
BikeMN will arrange for attendees to meet with their respective legislators during the day. A schedule of meetings will be posted on the morning of the Summit or before at bikemn.org. Lunch will be provided before the assembly marches to the State Capitol to really for our cause.
